HISTORY

The UST Research and Endowment Foundation, Inc. (UST REFI) works with the University of Santo Tomas in its engagement with agencies and organizations, both national and international, that are committed to academic excellence and social welfare.

As a link between the UST REFI and the University, the Office for Grants, Endowments, and Partnerships in Higher Education (OGEP) was established in 1992. It has since served as the implementing arm of the Foundation. The office is under the supervision of the Office of the Rector, and is mandated to provide and maintain the ways and means by which the Foundation can attain its objectives in coordination with the University’s Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, the Vice Rector for Finance, and other concerned UST offices.

The OGEP works toward the cultivation of mutually beneficial ties with educational and funding institutions. It taps the assistance of institutions and alumni in providing endowments that may be used to enhance the institutional capabilities, faculty development, scholarship, research, and community development projects of the University.

The Foundation is designed and established as a non-political, non-stock, non-profit corporation to encourage, support, assist and finance projects and programs dedicated to the pursuit of specific purposes for which the Foundation is formed as set forth in its Articles of Incorporation (in the Appendix).
